The Chancellor delivered his Spring Budget on 8th March

Philip Hammond mentioned Tax-Free Childcare in his speech, announcing that the roll-out would begin next month:

“Next month we will see the introduction of our flagship Tax-Free Childcare policy, which will allow working families across the UK to receive up to £2,000 a year towards the cost of childcare for each child under 12. The scheme will be rolled out to all eligible parents by the end of the year.”

Tax-Free Childcare will be introduced from next month, in a controlled way. It will then gradually roll out – parents of younger children will be able to apply first and all eligible parents will be able to benefit by the end of this year. Parents will be able to apply for all of their children at the same time, when their youngest child qualifies.
